All Religions Lead to the Same Place!
All Religions Lead to the Same Place! Learn how to explain the illogical nature of that statement. Featured is apologist Greg Koukl, author of the book TACTICS, from Zondervan Publishing.
Koukl’s website is STR.org. Filmed at “The Awakening” apologetics conference at Calvary Chapel, Costa Mesa, CA.
I think there are only two ways to God: 1) Absolute perfection (not possible) and 2) trusting Christ. I vote for trusting Christ!
I really like Greg Koukl and have recommended his work to many people. I think he is currently one of the most practical mentors for everyday redemptive conversations around. I also happen to think there’s another way to address this particular question in a personal conversation; by granting them the reasonableness to some elements of their assertion rather than digging in and contending against a position that is not well considered to begin with.
I would simply rephrase and say something like this, “Of course there are many paths to God. How could there not be? There are so many people, places, experiences, cultures, languages, beliefs…there must be many paths to God. There also must be many paths away from God. That seems pretty obvious too. All I’m saying is this, if a person is on a path leading them to God, that path will, eventually, lead him or her to Jesus Christ because He is God. His resurrection from the dead validates that fact and so He is the only One who can demonstrably deliver on His promise of eternal life. Yes, many paths lead to God, and since Jesus is God, any path to God brings you to Jesus.”
And now we’re talking about the centerpiece of the Christian faith and why it’s so unequivocally biologically unbelievable and yet so reliably historically certain.
Looks like a book I’ll have to check out. I loved his book “Relativism” and I also have his iPhone app from his ministry Stand To Reason (look up STR).
He said early on that Jesus didn’t just say in one place that he is the only way of salvation. It would be cool if there was some verse references on the screen that could show the viewer at least some of the verses Koukl is thinking about. He probably dives more into that in his book. I’ll check it out!
It is interesting that he brought out that those who think we are narrow in our thinking that there is only one true religion, are actually doing the same thing in holding to their thought that all religions lead to God; believing that to be true.
I like his point that Jesus did not believe in the all-religions thing.
